Definition of special optical fiber: optical fiber with special design or material.


Special optical fiber is generally considered to have at least one special property, which can be separated from ordinary standard optical fiber. However, there is no general definition of standard optical fiber. Some optical fibers have very special parameters, such as large fiber core diameter or very large numerical aperture. Because of these different special properties, these optical fibers are not always called special optical fibers, but more specific expressions are preferred, especially in scientific publications.
